Why Convert to an Electronic Medical Record?

This article discusses the reasons for converting to an EMR as well as details on selecting a product and implementing it. Links to other sources of EMR information are listed also. Click Here

Chart Tickler

Chart Tickler automatically generates reminder messages in selected Practice Partner Patient Records charts. This is useful for quality improvement audits, drug recalls, initiating new therapies, etc. The charts are selected using Patient Records Patient Inquiry utility or using PPRNet patient level reports. Chart Tickler is free, but optionally you may donate to one of the charities listed.
Quick Doc Coder

Quick Doc Coder allows the user to rapidly PLink document image files or code document text files for use in Practice Partner(TM) Patient Records. In both Image Mode and Text Mode, documents are processed in a batch process that does not require any copying, pasting, or even opening of Patient Records charts.

MedicScan Card Scanner

The MedicScan card scanner/software allows rapid scanning of insurance cards. Patient Records 8.x now supports importing and displaying images of insurance cards through the Patient Screen. There is no longer a need to Plink the images. Multiple card images can be saved if the patient has more than one insurer or if the patient’s insurance changes. Here are detailed instructions on setup and use of the MedicScan card scanner.

PPRNet Tools

PPRNet is a research network managed by the Dept. of Family Practice at the Medical University of South Carolina. It's members include over 100 primary care medical practices across the nation. All of the practices use Practice Partner Patient Records software. PPRNet analyzes medical data from these practices and designs interventions to help the practices improve quality of care. One of the more useful reports supplied to PPRNet members is the Patient Level Reports. These reports are Excel spreadsheets that contain detailed information on dozens of quality of care measures for each patient in a practice. The reports do not contain patient names or demographics. Patient Records has a utility that will look up patient names to match to the reports, but it is very slow and tedious to use. Don Stewart MD developed a macro to automate the process of adding patient names and demographics to the Patient Level Reports. His macros are available for download with his permission. To use the macro you must download and install MacroExpress.
